✨ “Begin your day with presence. One message. One moment. One breath.”
This is just a glimpse of the daily Sol Awake messages, arriving each morning in the way you choose—through the mobile app, the blog, your browser’s start page, or Patreon. Let us offer you something tender to greet your eyes—and your heart—the moment you awaken.
Thoughts
What if this very moment is not a stepping stone—but the altar?
We often think of our day as a series of steps we need to get through in order to accomplish some things on our to-do list. In the morning, I usually write a short list of 3-5 tasks I need to get done during that day. I am not always focused on the present moment – the now moment – I am usually looking toward the future if I have a day packed with things to do.
In the long term, or short long-term, I think of myself as moving toward some bigger goals. I am aware that I often think – I’m almost there, or I’m getting somewhere.
What if I had already arrived?
Not for the goal I was thinking about, but for other goals that are not always in mind.
What if I’ve already become a great dad? What if I could just feel that for a moment, what that’s like? What if I could sit in that for a bit? I never did before. This thought just came up now as I’m typing this. As I look deeply at this, I can see clearly…
I’m the dad I wished I had growing up. I’m the dad that spends many hours each week helping my kids get out and do things they wouldn’t have a chance to with other parents.
It isn’t bragging, this isn’t for you to read and think – wow, he’s such a great person. But it’s just for me, private thoughts I choose to share here. I won’t tell you the ways in which I think I’m a good dad for my two daughters… that’s for them and me.
Instead of always looking forward at the goals you’re moving toward, you could stop for a second and realize, you may have already hit other goals that are even more important than climbing the ladder, making that promotion or job move, attaining some level of status or following on social media or in your field of work or play.
Maybe you, too, have already crossed thresholds you didn’t notice. Maybe you’ve already become someone your younger self longed for.
What if the altar isn’t far ahead at all? What if it’s right here—in who you’ve already become, in what you’ve already given, in the love that is already alive through you?
